Love - Elegant in entirety!

Love is not an activity but an experience. It doesn’t have a start and hence no end. It doesn’t arrive; doesn’t leave. It just lingers. How can we ever define it? If only we could contain it somewhere we could analyze it, but it is far from being contained, it escapes through us before we even know it. We do not tell ourselves, we should love something or someone, it just happens, just like we never tell ourselves explicitly that we should love our parents. It comes naturally and irrationally. The more we give in love, the more we experience the taste of freedom. And who would not want to be free? It can never bind us in a way that harms us; it is just too irrational for its own good. When our parents tell us not to do something, it comes out of their love, they do not see anything else than our happiness, everything else takes a back seat for them.

Love, to its misfortune, is grossly misconstrued as mere attraction. It is beyond mere attraction; beyond mere longing, far far away from any kind of orthodox prisons or contemporary confinements. It is insulated from the rules and self serving principles (principles, really?) of society trying to malign it. It is the attainment of the state of peace which is far greater than happiness. It is pristine. It is simple. As Tagore said - Love does not claim possession, but gives freedom. One can kill the manifestation of love but love, in itself, is immortal. Another aspect of love is that it is intensely personal. Others cannot dilute it by force, by cajoling or by commonly used weapon of mass destruction viz. emotional blackmail ;)

Love is passion! Love is impulsive! Love knows no bounds! But then its real, its passion is real. Try telling a couple that their story is not possible, they might agree with us, but then we will still see them together the very next day. Everything seems possible when we love someone, weirdest ideas become the basis of expressions, and time loses its meaning! It stops for the two souls who are oblivious to the world; the world stops by to see them! When we love someone/something passionately, the observer and the observed are the same things. There is no struggle. It is freedom in entirety. That is the beauty of understanding between two souls. When both want the same things, does it matter who contributes more and who less? We are at loss to explain why we do certain things for somebody. We fall short of expressions. That’s when we start realizing what is peace and still be restless. Mind is full of peace while the heart is lit up like never before!

Love never has conditions and bounds. It liberates the mind, makes us strong. It gives us the strength to handle the worst and also makes us dream the best. It is a ray of hope to a person who is passionately involved with someone/something. A scientist who loves his ideas tries again and again even after uncertain results. He chases the idea with a belief so strong that he can break the conventional patterns and traditions. Great love involves great risks! But it becomes hard to realize it’s a risk when a person is truly in love. The confidence that love gives goes a long way in one’s life, though the goal may never be achieved but the experience is worth after all! When everything revolves around one thing we love, be it a person, an idea or our work, all other events just arrange themselves around it. It is just that idea on our mind that rejuvenates us every instant! The idea becomes a passionately lit fire that goes out to light the whole world. This is the beauty of love, even though the world may oppose the idea and condemn it, but it lights the whole world. It gives unconditionally.

Let’s take a time machine and travel few decades back into the past. We can observe that in earlier days there was very less social interaction, few choices, closed culture, less diversity in an individual’s activities among others. Fast forward to the present. We see that the society is more progressive, more individualistic. Every generation is more active and open minded than the previous. There is heightened social interaction and a better understanding of who I am and what I seek. This has added newer dimensions to love transgressing the older ideals. Today we love so many aspects of a person than mere physical look, familial background or material wealth. The whole sum total is the manifestation of love as we know it today. An individual back then was like a puppet with strings attached and was controlled by others. In some cases, others had greater control over his/her life than that individual. We see that today the strings are getting snapped. When they snap, we either parachute ourselves safely to the ground or fall foul on the ground *thud!!!* and hurt ourselves.

The idea of love as discussed till now is not confined to two people. It is between two entities. Now these two entities could be two persons or a person and his passion/hobby or a person and an idea or a person and his/her life; it could be between anything. The greatest inventions and discoveries of the world is the result of the undying love between the inventor and his idea. The love between a mother and her child blossoms even before the birth of the baby. The qualities of the love discussed above apply equally to every relationship. And the factors trying to malign the love equally apply as well. As Charles Darwin said - It is not the strongest of species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change. It is important to recognize the change churning under the seabed of the society and preserve this essence of life called love in its entirety.

Let us love our life, love the myriad experiences

Love people as they are, love the differences.

Just 5 more minutes !

Main Samay hoon ..Main tumhara beeta hua kal aur aane wala pal hoon. Mujhe koi badal nahi sakta, tod marod nahi sakta hai…  Main Samay hoon.

Remember that heavenly voice that would kick start the most celebrated television serial “Mahabharat”? yeah its same baritone voice of radio jockey Harish Bhimani masquerading himself as ,“Time” or “Samay”. We used to watch it without troubling our grey cells, but I think its time to put on our thinking caps. Lets make it clear to ourselves that ‘Time’ is a nonliving entity and Harish Bhimani is nowhere answerable to our doubts regarding ‘Time’.We are always ruled by this entity and running to catch up with it.

‘Time’ as defined by Gottfried Leibniz and Immanuel Kant “Time is neither an event nor a thing, and thus is not itself measurable nor can it be travelled”. The meaning of above words is that ‘Time ‘ itself has no existence on its own, it always comes into the picture while we relate any events happening around us. Our Egyptian friends were among the first to design devices to measure ‘Time’, they used sun as reference and the shadow cast by it at regular intervals, they designed water clocks with flowing water as reference. For details regarding design we will have to resurrect Amenhotep III !!

We can infer one thing from above definition that is we are free to define time for ourselves. We always construct an illusion about saving time, “ I finished my work in only 15 minutes rather than 30 minutes”. But in reality we cannot reduce 30 minutes to 15 minutes neither make it 1 hour.Whenever we are drooling in a boring lecture , how much we wish that 1 hour be compressed to 10 minutes or for that matter of fact, every morning we see the clock and try saying to ourselves, “Just 5 more minutes”. We go to the extent of creating illusion that 5 minutes will give us an hour s sleep and cuddle up again !

This is how we create virtual definitions of ‘Time’ in our life. , we have experienced ‘Energy’, ‘Matter’, ‘Speed’ , but have we in the real sense experienced ‘Time’ ? Yes , we have come across time s existence through the events happening in our life, but we never experienced 1 sec or 1 minute. As in our digital circuits, we tend to derive clocks based on events and use them for slower parts of the circuits( Rewind !! remember Verilog , VHDL ? for all those are wondering what gibberish is this, ignore these terms). In our systems , every circuit works on its own pace(clock), we first define the pace of the main system and later reduce its tempo for other circuits. We also increase the pace of slower circuits to match the tempo of our main system.

Enough of Electronics now ! We can notice from above that we mess around with time so much, we compress it and relax it ! But reference ‘Time’ always remains constant. Going with this we can say that our Earth s clock system is derived from Universe s Big Clock !! Now the question arises where and what is this Big Clock ? Let us assume there s no such Big Clock , then it means ‘Time’ is an illusion, if we say yes there s a Big Clock ,then how did it originate and what is its rate ?

Ponder on .. If you get the answers or come up with a new theory then our India will be witnessing one of the greatest intellects. If you do not get , then just shut off those alarms and sleep for those precious “5 minutes”Winking smile

You are my Sun

You are my Sun ,

who knows when I need  protection from dark winters ,

Knows when I need  brightness to guide me along,

You give me hope when I walk closing my eyes,

When I falter you are right beside me emitting radiance.

You are my Sun,

Dancing around me majestically ,

showing me another path of happiness.

Happiness that you emit is all I want,

Giving you myself is all I wish .

You are my Sun,

Thriving in me conquering my realm of dreams,

Watching me as I  run around through a day ,

Engulfing me in your infinite arms ,

Soaking up the tears that fall .

You are my Sun !

whose omnipresence amazes me ,

you are the one who I always see,

See through these devoted eyes,

your victories all around.

Yes You are my Sun !

who gives me a life,

life which is blessed by your golden charm,

while I am tired of searching for my “Freedom”

All you do is embrace me,

I know then, that you are my “Freedom”

You are my Sun …

Mr. Genius

" I have no special talents ,I am only passionately curious ;) " One of the century s greatest and mysterious minds answered when asked about himself.

It will be wrong if we say Einstein was the only genius , it is pertinent to say we all are geniuses. Do we need a clarification about ourselves ?

Einstein was never a first rank holder or 10 pointer. He did not even struggle for the top slot, but he passionately learnt Mathematics and Physics ! He had developed a logical and ever curious thought process. He believed in math and physics , he worked out these subjects independently and creatively. He questioned stereotypical way of thinking and chose to follow what he felt right.

Sources say Einstein had a memory like a sieve , but he was a genius he only remembered what was necessary for him and utilized his power of logical reasoning. He too had his dose of ups and downs , school academia considered him as a rebel as he was opposed to the mediocre examination system. Pure thinking and freedom of thought were necessary for Einstein and till the end he had his own opinion on every issue. Be it Physics or politics Einstein had his own theory , it is said legends have always kept their thinking simple, though their life may have turned complex at times . Mr Genius s life was not of much interest , but Einstein and his thinking has continued to be a subject of interest.

Everybody knows this genius who made a scientific breakthrough by aptly defining Time ! Its amazing to ponder over the theory he developed. All he said was time cannot be defined , its very confusing but lets give it a try . On Earth we have a standard time defined as 60 seconds amount to 1 minute , 60 minutes is 1 hour and 24 hours is one day, now consider another planet there the time may be defined as 1 hour of Earth as one second on that planet. We often say this, " Happy moments pass quickly, where as difficult times drag on ! " hence Mr Genius said Time is relative . That means time cannot have a single standard definition. This was my attempt at Theory of Relativity, though it has left me in confounding state ! Now let us believe we have not come across this theory, be honest and lets try thinking about time. .....5 seconds to go...think ....3 sec..2 sec..stop ! Our first thought that flashed across our minds was , a picture of a watch and seconds tickling by as we thought on , did we for a moment think time has no structure and probably it is not defined ? Do we see the complexity now ?We better agree Einstein was a true genius rather than getting lost in the complexity !

We can proudly say " I am better than Einstein" and it will prove out to be true if we harness the invincible power of our brain. If we develop a curious and logical thinking we can get answers to all the unsolved theories in nature. By merely asking a question we can kick start our thinking process , but if we want to get to the bottom of the mystery we need persistent thinking. Einstein always emphasized imagination is much more necessary than knowledge, almost everything can be imagined by our mind. If we closely observe Mr Genius s life he was always delighted to work with Physics , he carried that child-like charisma everywhere which kept his mind craving for more and more. Our mind should be dictated only by us and not influenced by blind beliefs. Our ancestors knew how our minds work and to make it easier for us they defined few beliefs. These beliefs were followed by ordinary people who could not understand complex scientific logics. This does not mean our generation should do the same , we all realize we can think on our own ! This should empower our thoughts and reason out all our ancient beliefs while acknowledging its importance in our lives.

One Phase..Four years.. Few Gits ..

One phase ..Four years of madness, craziness, recklessness..Four years resulting in bonding's for a lifetime..Few lives come together to create a small world of happiness and togetherness ...Friends !!! A life that defined what friendship is and how it thrives, moments which taught me how few people become integral part of our lives, events that made me realise few people can accept us just the way we are , few gits will always know us in and out !

I entered this place called "Tumkur" , never in my 18 years of life i had heard of such a place but now it seems like this place will always be in my memories. Its four years since I came to this SIT and everything still seems like yesterday . First day of my college everything seemed so new, uncertainty hovering above, fear of new people and place, homesickness being the constant companion and studies driving me crazy. I was afraid of people around me because I felt I was from different part of the world, well thats how everybody exclaimed Gulbarga !! so far ! The moment i entered hostel , my very first thought was to pick my bags and go back ! That feeling persisted for long time. I used to dream of my hometown listening to class, I would picture my home and my friends. Sometimes homesickness haunted me in broad day light and others times it crept up to me during dark nights. Hostel made me realize that I love my family the most and that no matter what happens my parents will always be there for me.

When I first came to "my class" , ha ! I was doomed seeing everybody s face, but i found few warming smiles and today they are my best friends. First two semesters that I wrote were the only ones where I can proudly boast of scoring some decent marks. One noon when i returned from routine college I saw a girl standing in mess , she turned out to be my classmate roopa - my delicate darling. Today she s my best friend and has been my roommate for four years and it all seems like yesterday. I remember we both agreeing on same points and bitching about same things ! Yeah we differed a lot in many aspects but that turned out to be the beauty of our friendship thats still going strong and is here to stay. I remember a particular incident when I mischievously smacked her and the next moment her face was shining with tears. I was too embarrassed to tell anything to her because I was clearly misunderstood, she has been a great support to me, always keeping an eye on me, I have attended half of my morning classes just because of her and her dialogue " Idiot ! you ll be running short of attendance , come quickly i ll be waiting for you" . Whenever she said she would wait for me , I felt really glad , not cause she was waiting rather I would delay her too :P

Few more idiots entered my life in second year and since then my SIT life has been a roller coaster ride. I met my another Best git of my life in second year-Megha the Man :P, she unlike my other roommate I mentioned above was totally different, this lady supported me in all my reckless activities while my other roomy was skeptic. This lady cooked up pranks with me to trouble the other one and at times she was the victim of my pranks. Once I had decorated their lovely faces with all creams while they were snoring peacefully , the following morning saw a fit thrown by my delicate darling and the other one was cool about it. I had enjoyed every moment of it :P The loudest symphony ( people called it as noise !! ew) always came from our room, everytime we were caught having fun. These four years have been like golden sand slipping away from my hand while I enjoyed the glitter and shine. I remember a girl in first year who seemed totally out of place just like me , but she was far more upset. Today she s one my best friend - Enter Pallo Rani ! Only I know how I have survived through a class full apathetic people in the beginning , if it was not for her I would have been doomed and would never have known what friendship is. She has helped me come out of my tough times of indecisive attitude.I remember few secret outings we went together, spontaneous, careless, fun filled outings!

I mentioned only about three gits , there are few more to go.. In second year I met some really unusual people ( No offence they still are unusual's) Enter Tham and Nass , In an unfortunate incident I met them in IEEE team and that remains my favorite team of all times. We three worked together so in sync- Tham- One of the Best leader and dynamic personality without whom we used to stay blank ( Yeah cause he was the one who supported my every idea and then would suddenly tell : we can do it this way also !! so we would rather decide to stay blank ), Nass- Leader, Caretaker and Pacifier who has the gift of calming every situation ( How ? Why ? cause he s one of the laziest smart kid ) . Me- A person who always looked forward to hang with these two ! be it work ( through which I learnt a lot from them or be it fun where I lived my life s few best moments) These two have been there for me at all times , its difficult to get used to their absence, but then we will find ways to hang out again cause ours is the best team !

Today I write all of this , cause I know things are changing quickly and am frightened about that. Change though most of the time happens for good but for now am plain blank . I want these gits to know what they mean to me , we have had our great moments together , times of hardships we shared , times of happiness we savoured together. I don know how are things going to be in future, all I want to tell is no matter what our bonds will always be the same ! I don know how I would have lived my life for four years without these gits , who have left ocean of memories in my life. This is dedicated to all these wonderful people ...who will always remain biggest GITS of my life :)

VILLAGE DIARIES

The moment we hear the word Village, we envisage shabby lanes, big haunted houses, people wearing turbans and many other things pop up instantly. Everyone one of us might have their native Villages, but seldom anyone one of us visit. This vacation I spent a week in my native observing their routine.

Unlike our houses, in villages houses are smeared with mud and they have opening where well, cowshed and garden is situated. As I entered our house I could see six pair of eyes examining me. Two cows and a calf were staring me with a questioning look as if saying,” who is this now? When we only skip our two meals daily, how can we feed an extra mouth!”. I later learnt that cattle were collapsing due to hunger as a result of drought. This house was very old and strangely quiet. The house was so cool that it did not matter if there was power or not, cool breeze always flew in and out. As the night approached the electricity made its absence felt and in the pitch dark the house seemed like a haunted one. Next day as i was lazing around I saw two shining eyes in the dark corner of the house. The creature leapt aside to reveal itself , it was a brown and white stripped cat!. Gracefully it entered the kitchen and started purring loudly as if saying, “My bowl is empty! You have not poured milk in it!” My aunt in return replied , “Stop screeching young fellow!”. The cat fell silent immediately. It started screening the place and its eyes rested upon me wide in shock! It ran away as I made a movement. The cat visited the house daily and had its siesta in a secluded corner.

In the evening hours all the residents of village would peep out of their houses to have a chat with neighbours. No villager was a stranger to them , they knew everybody in the village. One morning I woke up with a start due to chirping sounds above my head. As it peered I saw hoard of sparrows fluttering above. They had their cosy nests built on our roof! The sparrows were so busy chirping that my presence went unnoticed. Has anyone seen sparrows on your window sills? Strange, that they their population has dwindled in cities.

I have a friend in my village who. But due to poverty she did not pursue her studies further. Now apart from managing her house , she also takes tuitions for kids in the evening hours. She charges only Rs20 per month for each kid and around 15 of them attend her classes. Does this ring a bell somewhere? Its difficult to digest because our monthly spending shoots high above Rs 300 !

Urban people tend to be paranoid but country folks trust each other, that’s what I noticed during my stay. In villages many elderly people live all alone in big houses without any fear. This is the real concept of freedom for which our ancestors struggled. Today villages are in grave danger as their population is decreasing. People are migrating to cities where they are forced to lead a miserable life. Every city has a slum area, the inhabitants are the same who migrate from villages. If these places are provided with good facilities, this migration will reduce. We cannot afford to lose our villages as they are the epicentre of our culture , agriculture and have huge reserves of manpower. Let us all hope that these lively places will be saved and protected in near future!

MOGULS OF THE DAY.

Sun starts descending slowly, the velvety cover spreads through the sky. The crimson sky engulfs it all, shimmering at places where sun is bright. As I look up at the sky, the reddish orange is all I see, with purple curtains hiding orange under it. Sun looks majestic with zillion rays sprouting out of him, I trace those rays as far as I can but then they disappear. No matter what, the rays travel encountering all the obstacles sometimes they seem to punch a hole through a chunk of cloud. As I look I see a silver lining at the end of chunk. The horizon seems dipped in the splendor colour of the sun and he happily settles in its arms.

As he settles down, hoard of wishes greet him, I try to hear those but all I understand is the chirping sounds of his subjects. His subjects greet him for the day, sometimes twittering in a flock and sometimes silently passing by him.

The night opens its wings slowly, with grace of a beautiful peacock. Eventually night dances all the way until it spreads the cover above me. As I wonder in awe at the perfect darkness, I see diamonds hanging on the black background, shining, tiny stars. They pop up one by one, in few minutes whole dark sky is full of diamonds. I point my finger at one star, it glows brightly while others momentarily disappear. I shift to others and the same thing happens

Its fascinating to watch those shiny little diamonds, the infinite numbers make me forget everything else. The night grows up with an aim of pervading through everything it encounters. Its aim remains concealed for sometime as it penetrates through. As life stands still and watches, the night starts flying magnificently. I admire the beauty of stillness around me, every single life obeys its new ruler—“The Night”.

The silence is impressed naturally, slowly in hushed tones trees and plants whisper about their majesty. The cold breeze pays its respects and brushes the leaves. While taking a walk in a boulevard I felt I was missing out something, i was an uninvited guest in the ‘Night s Kingdom’. As the crickets chirp more loudly and the hushing grows louder, I just admire the night. There is secret meeting going on between them all and I try to decipher it but, but am pushed back by the growing blackness. I wonder at various shades of black, the one in the bush had slightly darker shade than a shadow. Grayish shadows of buildings and trees were covering each other and I stood between those long shadows. I knew after they scare me to leave, they would celebrate till the dawn. They would wave around and enjoy seeing we getting conquered by nights trick of making us sleep.

As I return back to my den, I see night gliding past the lonely streets spreading its magic of stillness and silence. Tiny diamonds shine with more glitter and enjoy winking whole night, they are glad those lights which troubled them have died out. But they even know those lights will be back to haunt them the next day. I wanted to spend more of time enjoying calming breeze, but night seemed to threaten me with its absolute darkness ..
